A new review on Passion MSX !

This time, it's the turn of Twinbee released by Konami in 1986, yes this game with an original co-operative dual mode !

The Spanish coders of Paxanga have declared freeware their puzzle game of 2004, Yupipati !

You will find on their website other games and tools, some of them had been submitted to the MSXdev' contests of 2004 and 2005 (Eat Blue ! 2004, Mr. Chef and the Sausages and Parachuteless Joe)

On 9 and 10 August 2008, it's the yearly meeting of the MSX fans in Finland. This time, two competitions will be organized : a music contest and a demo contest.

What's new ?

- bugfix : many games, especially MegaROM games did not load correctly
- added fast forward button mapping
- custom mapper types can now be embedded in source code (it's the case for Zanac Ex and Mon Mon Monster)

A new MSX emulator based on fMSX and multi-platform : Linux, Windows, PSP, Dreamcast !!! It uses a SDL library and the 5 following files are absolutely required : SDL.dll, sdl_gfx.dll, SDL_image.dll, libpng-3.dll and zlib1.dll.

Note that you can search for cheats and make CPU save states ! Acces to the menu by F6, to the virtual keyboard by F7, LeftCtrl and LeftAlt are defined as 1st and 2nd fire buttons.

TNI has released a new version of the ROMLOAD utility that allows to load games in the ROM format under MSX-DOS in the memory of a Konami SCC-I (Sound Cartridge) or ESE-SCC cartridge.

What's new ?

- fixed support to run 16 kB mapped games in the SD-Snatcher Sound Cartridge
- added support to run the MSX-DOS 2 Kernel in a Sound Cartridge
- added reformatted usage output to make everything fit a WIDTH 80 screen
- .ROM is now the default extension
- fixed subslot number display when detected in an expanded slot
- fixed bug causing non-existing Sound-Cartridges to be detected
- added support to use ESE-SCC up to 512 kB of RAM in stead of a Sound Cartridge
- updated /P to enable patching up to 64 blocks within the limits of the ROM image

It's the turn of Passion MSX to celebrate on his way the 25th birthday of the MSX system ! We have decided to launch the first edition of a contest to promote the creation of new quality games for the second generation of our beloved system, in other words : MSX2 !

Deadline is fixed to 30 June 2009, the format of your game needs to be a ROM file with a maximum size of 512 kb, the game needs to be created specifically for MSX2 and to work also without any problem on MSX2+ and MSXturboR.
