Spectrum tips

In a far-off galaxy, the diabolic queen Gremla exerts an absolute power on a confederation of five planets beyond Centauri Alpha. For too much time, Arkos, his devoted and faithful lieutenant trusted her blindly, but more the power of Gremla increased, more her cruelty and greed became obvious. Consequently, Arkos decided to stop this megalomania by destroying all that gives so much power to Gremla. The game must be over for this dictator !

A very nice thema for this game released by Dinamic in 1988, a Spectrum conversion which is worth the detour for action on two planets full with dangers ! You will need good reflexes, but also feeling for enigmas what concerns the second part of the game.

  The weapons
    First part of the game

You start with a normal shoot and 10 grenades. Using a grenade is equivalent to 4 normal shoots. By shooting on the red and white barrels, you can have extra grenades, acquire the special shoot and get a temporary invulnerability.

    Second part of the game

You start with a normal shoot and a giant laser. Using of the laser is limited to 25 times, but you can increase this number by touching a SHOOT icon.

  The hidden items
In the first part of the game, 3 shots on the red and white barrels reveal some hidden items : grenades, the special shoot (and besides an extended action field for the grenades), the temporary invulnerability, mines (avoid to take them !) and full vitality.

In the second part of the game, there is only one hidden item, the protective force field, but you can also find some very useful icons : 3 SHOOT icons to increase the use potential of the giant laser and an POW icon to get full vitality.

The walkthrough   Here's a walthrough with description of the main steps of your mission.
    First part of the game

First reconfigure the keys as following (option 1) :

UP = up arrow - DOWN = down arrow
LEFT = left arrow - RIGHT = right arrow
FIRE = spacebar
GRENADE = LeftCtrl
HALT (pause) = STOP (PageUp with blueMSX)
ABORT (give up) = ESC

If you use a joystick, configuration can be made with option 2 and is limited to GRENADE, HALT and ABORT.

Launch then the game with key 3.
In the first part of the game, you are on the Hypsis planet and you need to destroy all the electronic material, this by beginning with the guardians robots. Do not miss your jumps on the mobile platforms!
To get rid of the laser shooters, you must aid them 4 or 5 times to the head.
You approach metal platforms. Be careful with the ships which fly any height of the screen and avoid the green monsters! Explore the platforms and jump from the edge of the last one towards the next screen.
You come to the hard fight against the first boss : the GIANT ORKO. It's recommended to use here the grenades.
You meet then solid platforms and you need to explore them also. Jump from the edge of the last one towards the next screen.
Time now for the fight against the second bosses : 3 GIANT ROBOTS. After their destruction, you come to the end of the first part of the game and get the access key to the second part : 65535

    Second part of the game

Insert the access code (option 4), then reconfigure the keys as following (option 1) :

UP = up arrow - DOWN = down arrow
LEFT = left arrow - RIGHT = right arrow
FIRE 1 = spacebar
FIRE 2 = LeftCtrl
HALT (pause) = STOP (PageUp with blueMSX)
ABORT (give up) = ESC

If you use a joystick, configuration can be made with option 2 and is limited to GRENADE, HALT and ABORT.

Launch then the game with key 3.
In the second part of the game, you are on the Sckunn planet, where you need to cross a marshy forest before being able to destroy an imperial palace, from which Gremla decides the destiny of her subjects and the order of her conquests.

Be careful first with the Kaikas, sort of mutant kangaroos.
Don't go in the water as you are not equipped for that ! So, you must go by the highest part of the screen.
After a jump above a small water zone, you penetrate in the palace. Avoid the green androids, the Leisers-Freisers, and the red boxes with integrated magnetic field.
If you go down the first lift, you will able to acquire full vitality. Naughty robots will want to prevent you from doing that. Note that the POW icon can be used several times !
The second and third lifts allow to go up. However, to visit the palace's roof, you must first shoot on the right statue protected by a magnetic box and acquire a protective force field.
On the palace's roof, you will find the blue force with as result that you can now go in the water. From this point, go down very fast and enter the small water zone, just before the palace.
Under the lake, you discover the lair of the Final Boss : a terrible GIANT GUARDIAN. You will destroy him only in 3 steps : his wings will first disappear, then his body and finally his head!
It's the end of your mission and the game is over ! The terrible power of Gremla has been seriously shaken, but is it really the end ?
